ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT

 

For composers, the residency is designed to support:

 

  • The creation of new works or substantial development of existing compositions
  • Direct and sustained engagement with performers and ensembles
  • Examination of how notation and compositional structures function in practice
  • Detailed interpretative, technical, and practical feedback
  • Refinement of formal, sonic, conceptual, and performative dimensions
  • Development of more precise methods of artistic communication
  • Greater understanding of rehearsal as part of the compositional process
  • Preparation of works for public performance

 

For performers and ensembles, the residency is designed to support:

 

  • Direct engagement with composers and works in development
  • Active participation in collaborative creation
  • Expansion of contemporary interpretative practices
  • Development of methods for reading, rehearsing, and performing new music
  • Articulation of embodied, technical, and tacit forms of knowledge
  • Critical examination of interpretative agency and responsibility
  • Contribution to the formation and realization of new repertoire
  • Participation in public performances at an international festival

 

For all participants, the residency provides a structured context in which artistic development takes place through sustained activity, dialogue, experimentation, reflection, and engagement with the practices of others.
